BOLD’s 50th Anniversary Party Please be sure to call the BOLD Activity Call-In Number: 877-878-3030 before 9:00 PM on the call-in deadline date. Press the number of the event that you want to sign up for; leave your name, phone number and which bus stop you prefer. State if will bring a guide or guest along with their name or if you will need a guide. Also let us know if you will be bringing a guide dog to an event. ADA requires that all service animals must be always under the control of the handler. If you would like to be a guide for an event, it is requested that you call in to the Activity Call-In number listed above. This will help us to be sure that there is a guide for each VIP. Please do not call the Activity Leader to sign up for an event. Only call the Activity Leader with questions about the event. Their name and number are included at the end of each article. Please allow our transportation director until Thursday evening at 9pm to contact you about transportation to the event. If you must cancel, it should be done no later than 48 hours prior to the event. PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE To all VIPs, Lions and Guides. I continue my thread from the last issue of our activity listing and this time with more sense of urgency. Our continued growth has presented some new challenges and so far, we have been meeting them but my urgency is that we need to be proactive in making sure these challenges do NOT become failures. The challenges are transportation and guides. As always, we continue to look for guides and/or transporters for our events. We encourage you to consider joining in on the fun we are having. Instructions for doing so are included just after the calendar of events. You will not only provide a service to a Lions project, but get to enjoy the activity as well. VIP’s can ask friends and family to be guides or transport. We do provide a gas card as compensation and cover meal and activity costs as well. The real joy though, is enjoying the activity together as a group and making new friends along with the experience. I quote Lion Fred Farley, President of the Racine Lions Club. “I and our members who helped out at the Nature Center tour, had no idea how rewarding, interesting and fun it would be to be a part of your activities. We will also be signing up to enjoy the Mitchell Park Domes. Thank you for encouraging us to actively fulfill being Helen Keller’s ‘Knights of the Blind’!” So, please, this activity listing is packed with our events for the quarter. Please review and call our sign-up system to be a part of all this fun we are having. As always, feel free to contact any Board member with comments or suggestions. Our “2-2” line in our call-in system is also ready to take your input. On behalf of the BOLD Board of Directors, Lion Ray Tweedale BOLD President VIRTUAL EVENT ZOOM SIGN IN INFORMATION Please note that ALL virtual events listed in this newsletter will use this same sign in unless otherwise noted. This year, there are 2 directors whose terms will be expiring. If you would like to be a part of the governing body that guides and maintains this great organization, now is your chance. Each director term lasts for a period of 3 years, and as a director, you may be elected to serve as an officer. Officer’s terms last one year. In order for the board to remain in compliance with our charter and the bylaws, at least six members of the board must be members of a Lion club and be in good standing in their club. I highly encourage Lions to consider becoming a board member. Contact BOLD Vice President Jim Freuck (see last page for contact info) before the April meeting if you would like to be added to the ballot. From there it’s back to Richfield for one of the Richfield Lions legendary dinners. This ride will happen rain or shine. Remember to dress for this occasion in long pants, eye protection and closed-toed shoes. (In other words, no sandals, or flip flops.) You know the weather in Wisconsin could be 40 degrees or 80 degrees, so a jacket or sweatshirt is highly recommended because it is cooler on the bike. We are continuing the safety protocol of a 200-pound per VIP limit. We will have a scale at registration. You can ride along in Lions Ray’s car if over 200 and still enjoy the activities. A liability form is required and will arrive in the mail, within a WEEK AFTER the call-in deadline. Sign the liability form and RETURN it immediately. Use the supplied stamped and pre-addressed return envelope. IMPORTANT!! The order the returned forms are received will determine the order riders will be assigned to a guide and motorcycle. If you call in after the deadline, you will be put on a wait list. For those driving automobiles, remember that for safety reasons we will not allow your vehicles to follow the ride. Directions will be provided for a direct route to our midpoint stop if you would like to participate in the activities at the stop. SEAS offers Experiential Sailing Lessons, that gives people the opportunity to have their first contact with sailing in a 23ft boat. In this lesson, you will have basic instruction about boat parts and the sailing experience. You will also learn basic sailing terms, how to tie knots and how to sail around a course using audible marks. SEAS has found success as a leading organization in the development and improvement of technology for visually impaired and blind sailors. The technology they have developed and implemented is among the best and most effective of its kind and has allowed them to give people the freedom of sailing. This event is limited to the first 8 VIPs to call in. After the lesson we will stop for lunch on the way home. Bring closed toe shoes, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and layers of clothes, because it may get a bit colder on the lake. Also, we may get wet, so a towel or dry clothes might be a good idea. More information about SEAS can be found at: seasheboygan.org or by calling (920) 918-8551. Locations: 619 Broughton Drive, Sheboygan Activity Leader is: Marty Hutchings (262) 605-8981 Call-in deadline is: June 15, 9:00 pm to Box 7 Note: If you do not make this list, there are plans for another event in September. We will be using actual Family Feud survey questions and will follow the format used by the actual game show. Make up your own team of 6-8 players and prepare to match wits with another team. Please register your team using the call-in system. There of course will be prizes but the real win will be in all the fun we will have. Please use the ZOOM sign-in provided at the beginning of the Activity Listing to join the game. There is a 16-player limit so first come first serve and you need to stay for the whole night, usually until 8:00pm. 6:15 PM Sign In and we will be starting 6:30 PM SHARP! Activity Leader: Lion Ray Tweedale 262-224-5517 or Tweedale@charter.net Register your team or as an individual using Box 8 TIME SAVING TIP Here is a time-saving tip that some of our VIP’s find helpful when using the call-in system. Read about the event in the newsletter, remember the event number you wish to sign up for. When you call in, the greeting has 40 seconds of what to say as mentioned above. You can press the box number at any time which will bring you to the box so you can record your message. If you choose, you can listen to the complete message. If you would like to make a comment regarding any events, new events, etc., good, bad or indifferent, feel free to attend a Board of Directors Meeting or leave a message in Box 22 of the call-in system. 50th Anniversary Party Sun., Jun. 30 Time: 2:30 pm As promised!
